Google Earth adds AI image generation then pulls it within a day

Casio has launched a smart ring that resembles its classic watches, only worn on a finger instead of the wrist. The company has released rings before, but this version adds heart-rate, blood-oxygen, temperature and step-count sensors, putting it in direct competition with the Oura Ring and Samsung's Galaxy Ring. It is currently sold only in China at a price that converts to a little over 23,000 rubles.

Google DeepMind unveiled Gemini Robotics 2, an upgraded version of the AI model that controls humanoid robots. The key difference from its predecessor: rather than managing only the arms, the new model runs the entire body. It handles walking, balance and object manipulation simultaneously, and also lets robots communicate with each other. Access is limited for now to select partners such as Apptronik and Franka, on whose hardware DeepMind demonstrated the system.

The Russian mapping service 2GIS has taught its app to navigate without a satellite signal. Using the last known GPS fix, a gyroscope for heading and an accelerometer to estimate movement, the app continues guiding a driver through tunnels or underground parking garages. The phone must be fixed in a mount; when dead-reckoning mode is active, speed-camera warnings are disabled.

Google added AI image generation to Google Earth, then disabled the feature 24 hours later. The tool let users pick a location, press a button and describe a scene — a future construction project, the same site in antiquity — and a neural network would render the image. Google pulled the function after users began mass-generating content that violated its policies, including depictions of disasters.
