SpaceXAI launches Grok Bot as autonomous AI teammate

SpaceXAI introduced Grok Bot, an AI-agent service that positions itself as an “AI colleague.” Unlike chatbots that wait for step-by-step instructions, these agents receive their own cloud compute environment, hook into the applications, tools and websites the organization already uses, and carry out multi-step tasks, returning to the user only when the work is complete or approval is required. The company describes the shift as a jump from reactive chat to proactive automation.

The interface lets users send messages to the bots “as a colleague” from a desktop or an iPhone, without building a workflow in advance. Several bots can run concurrently, with one bot overseeing others on specialized tasks. The bots exchange information to share context when projects overlap and can join group chats to coordinate task ownership. According to SpaceXAI, the agents “learn and retain the existing work patterns of the user, preserve a ‘personal voice’, can pick up dropped conversations, continue old chats, and become more proactive over time, ‘take work before you have to ask and know when something requires attention’.”

SpaceXAI says Grok Bot builds on an internal prototype already in production for handling sales inquiries, marketing, office operations and bug fixes. The launch is presented as a direct response to business-oriented services rolled out by competitors: ChatGPT Work from OpenAI, Claude Cowork from Anthropic and Copilot Tasks from Microsoft. The company has not released comparative performance metrics, benchmark data on task completion, or service-level availability figures, leaving the gap between promise and reality unmeasured.

The beta opened yesterday on desktop and iOS for SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers. Organizations and teams can sign up for a waitlist for future access. SpaceXAI did not disclose separate pricing, usage limits, a target date for exiting beta, or details on security, permission controls, audit trails or regulatory compliance—issues that are critical for enterprise adoption.
